About Me
My first website I ever designed was in high school (circa 1997) and I created in Microsoft Word (cringe). The world has come a long way since then and so have I. I realized my love of web design and development when I was attending college. I took a web design class for Sophomore JanTermJanTerm is what my college (Austin College) called the minisemester that was between the fall and spring semesters. It is called JanTerm because for the whole month of January, students take only one course., and that was the end for me. I knew what I wanted to do.
They (don’t ask me who they is) say that you know when you have found your perfect job when you are excited to go to work every day. That’s how I feel when I get to design a website and then see it to completion. It also helps that I’m a rarity in this world because I not only have mad artistic skills but also have awesome technical/science skills.
My artistic side must come from my Grandmother. I would spend weeks with her during the summer doing any and all art projects I could get my hands on. My family did not/does not understand my fascination with all things creative, because they are all strictly left-brained, hence the technical/science side.
Doing web design/development is the perfect combination of my skills and my loves. I have the technical skills (BA in CSBachelor of Arts in Computer Science from Austin College) and the artistic skills (AAS in WDIMAssociate of Applied Science in Web Design & Interactive Media from The Art Institute of Austin), as well as the love of people. So, all in all, I would have to say that I am one of the lucky few that discovered my perfect job.
